Amarone producer
Villa Monteleone
Friday, April 23rd, 2010
Lucia Raimondi, owner of Villa Monteleone visits Ristorante Bartolotta in April for our second “Meet the Winemaker” event. Lucia’s winery is located in the village of Gargagnago in the heart of one of the most celebrated wine regions of Italy: Valpolicella, near Verona. Raimondi produces high caliber wines such as Valpolicella, Ripasso, the rare and beautiful Recioto-a red dessert wine with tropical fruit notes-as well as the world famous Amarone, all of which we offer at Ristorante Bartolotta. And speaking of Amarone, this year the prestigous Italian wine magazine Gambero Rosso honored Villa Monteleone’s 2005 Amarone della Valpolicella with the tre bicchieri (three glasses) award, which only a few of the very best wines and vintages earn every year in Italy. As a good friend of ours, Lucia wanted to come in and celebrate with us this memorable achievement. Our “Meet the Winemaker” event is different from a regular wine dinner in that we offer our regular dinner service instead of a single seating and menu. On this particular evening, Lucia will be on site meeting and greeting our guests all night and all of her wines will be available by the glass and by the bottle. People will have the opportunity to chat with Lucia during dinner in a casual setting. If you’re planning a trip to Italy, you will want to meet Raimondi because her Villa Monteleone also welcomes visitors and offers a taste of “real Italy”. Tucked in the peaceful Veronese countryside, yet only minutes away from the city, Lucia’s beautiful villas are strategically located, making it the perfect starting point for families and honeymooners visiting the area. Join us for dinner and meet Lucia in person, perhaps soon you’ll find yourself staying in one of her villas, overlooking the vineyards and sipping her famous Amarone.

Tuscan Wine Dinner
Isole e Olena
Thursday, April 29th, 2010
We are proud to announce that on the last week of April we’ll be featuring a very special dinner with one of the premier Tuscan wineries: Isole e Olena. Headquartered in Barberino Val D’Elsa, province of Florence, Isole e Olena produces some of the best labels in the region such as Chianti, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and sweet Vin Santo, among other high end wines; not to mention full bodied Tuscan olive oils (which we are excited to use for the cooking). This estate, run by Paolo de Marchi, was originally purchased by his family in the 60’s. Although originally from Piemonte, The De Marchi family fell in love with the area and purchased land, turning it into one of the best wineries in the area. Paolo de Marchi himself will be joining us for this dinner and will also be presenting some of the wines produced from his vineyards in Piemonte. Join us for this unique opportunity to talk wine with Paolo and to hear stories straight from the Tuscan countryside.
